Dear MS Sharma,

Thank you for such an elaborate response — I consider myself more learned now than before writing my post :-). Yes, the title could be misleading but as I have written in response to another commenter, I was doing some vocal thinking and I quickly wrote down my thoughts and then published them. Had never thought that such aware people like you would be attracted to my piece :-).

I’m not sure I have been able to communicate that when I talk of rituals I’m not talking about the real Dharmic and Sanatan rituals — I have utmost respect for them and I know that people who perform those rituals fully understand why they are performing them.

My target were people who jostle in the temples, who misbehave at the places of worship, who mistreat the poor while giving ample donations to temples and gurdwaras, who dirty the rivers in the name of oblations, and in the current context, who mistreat animals like cows but consider them holy.

I don’t care much about being politically correct. Things are just right or wrong and yes, sometimes there are grey areas in this is why we write, don’t we?
